Why All the Heartbreak?

Love is not supposed to hurt. Does that answer the question?
And you know what - it's usually just one of the couple who's always guessing.
There's no assurance or deep down concern or caring,
It's some game of chance, and they have nothing to lose in this game of daring.

That's all it really is or ever was. In this world, the counterfeit remain
Hanging in there, playing their game and leaving a trail of real pain.
It's sad that blind love comes mostly to the young. They are so easily fooled.
After about two years, they won't be so easily fooled.

Of course, there is a deceiver for every inexperienced heart,
Just waiting like an animal of prey to show the world how smart
And wonderful they are. Usually they can fool you only once, but once
May be the last for you. Heartbreak is their stock in trade, with little regard for anyone.
