Why?
Why Bethlehem? Why a stable? Why the cross?
Only those who studied the prophecies were not at a loss
To understand and believe why God's Son, born of flesh,
Was born in such lowly circumstances. None-the-less
He was, in the most real reality promised of God
To inhabit, in God's promised time a life upon this sod.
Fame and fortune nor any earthly glory
Was the ultimate reason for this fulfilled story.
Those who would follow in His earthly steps
Will find the goal sufficient to readily accept
Whatever route we need to learn to live -
And consider it an honor to follow Him and give.
When the angels sang, "Joy to the world" and the Eastern star
Shone with brilliant heavenly light from afar,
It was such an esoteric prophecy it was only understood
By those versed and learned who could and would
See down through the ages to this place and time
To the men who, even now, still look for that joy sublime,
And who could still celebrate with joy, Jesus' birth
And fully understand why He was sent to this earth.
