Whose Irresponsibility Are You Responsible For?

It happens all the time and those who help are usually family members.
They are only trying to assist while trying to remember
A time long ago, way back when this same needful soul
Was lying in their arms, just a few hours old.

You seldom ever foresee this predicament in their future days ahead.
Your precious little baby will be everything you ever dreamed since you were wed.
But reality is sometimes harsh and baby souls sometimes go a different way,
And in the years ahead they'll likely get lost and lose their way.

That is a likely reason the irresponsible actions of your child
Still fall heavy on our heart and will for miles and miles.
It is so difficult to cut that binding cord
And let them bear the consequences of their actions. It is a two-edged sword

That swings both ways. If you accept the responsibility for all their unwise choices
You may have helped them - for this moment in time. Their voice
Will call again, many times, but for everyone's sake
Let them answer, as far as possible, for themselves. Just be careful to not forsake.
