Where The Sky Meets The Edges

This view is best observed from the air or from a mountain top
Or from the plains where the land goes on forever and never stops -
Or so it seems! It stretches out so spacious and so endless.
The deserts of this earth are stretched out so defenseless,

Rambling on in their extremes and so completely unaware
That there are places where trees grow green and rain is not rare.
In all these wide expanses of space and sand and open land
You watch the sky stretching on the edges of the burning sand.

The stranger absorbing these overwhelming, empty spaces
May well feel completely overwhelmed and long loudly for busy places.
Maybe the natives of these sands prefer these lonely and empty miles
That stretch on forever - emanating a sense of immortality, free of life's trials.
