When We Say Happy New Year

First, I feel we are thinking how lucky we are to see a new year.
I suspect a lot of others think very much this same way. Any tear
That appears now is sadness for any lack that haunted life another day,
When "Happy New Year" was not just a casual greeting but more like a prayer.

Somehow we like to pick out special days to wish upon, usually those that are
Markers of some sort of event or celebration, that shine like a star
To guide us to greater heights than we've yet reached in our journey here.
Let's greet each other with Happy New Day, and vow each day to dry our last tear.
