When Life Seemed Simple

Oh boy! Can you remember those earlier days when
Everything seemed so natural and so, so simple? So uncomplicated then!
But passing time explains this wonderful phenomenon!
Most children are not exposed to the cold reality of being a pawn.

I have pondered the basic segments of our earthly lives
And I wonder if our adolescence isn't a test to survive!
We're dealing here with the blatant reality that there's a world out there
And in our inexperienced minds we do a lot of protesting, "It ain't fair."

The major reality of facts seems, "survival" and you try to figure that.
Then you realize there're rules that apply to how you accomplish that.
You face the reality that every other human being
Is trying to focus on this new and complicated way of seeing.

To all who made it, you stand on the crest and look both ways
To remember the wonder and simplicity of those simpler days
Trying to assess the tools you've acquired to effectively carry you.
However far God sees fit. Maybe even give a hand to those who follow you.
