When I Can Not Agree
I have a lot of trouble justifying a mass collaboration of consolidation
Of what I believe just to coincide with a certain group for pacification.
I see political jockeying all the time, and people who swore to hold one certain opinion
Can acquiesce in complete aplomb when the occasion commands dominion.
Am I saying this politely enough to not offend such fickle souls?
They worry less about their credibility than the score at the polls.
When I can not agree, with a clear conscience, then I'd be dishonest
To uphold a candidate who flouts all the opposite, and maybe not so honest.
A party name does not dominate my sense of what is right or wrong.
I will not lean away from what I believe and sing a traitor's song.
I see so many who feel this compromising is politicking
But what's best for America must be carefully considered above any party bickering.
