When It's Over - Christmas Poem

When Christmas day has come and gone, we feel rather lonely and let down.
After all that crescendo of anticipation and excitement it seems hardly any sound
Is heard in this household - except maybe the cats hanging around
To get their presents of some leftovers from yesterday to be found.

We sit in quietude and relive the wild abandon of excitement
And all the lovely proclamations of love and enlightenment
That shook the walls and refilled our souls
With family love and care. God bless us in the years ahead, when we're old.
