What Makes You Happy?

It took me a long, long time to figure this one out:
We've all intermingled in this life with some we couldn't figure out.
Their response to life did not make sense and you were at a loss
To understand their problem. They seemed burdened with some invisible "cross."

You can't comfort them; they seem content to wear their long face;
You can't please them 'cause you never know what that would take;
You can't ever be good enough in any way to satisfy their demands.
You'll never make it, kid, if you're still trying. There is no way. No plans

That will ever satisfy or make them appreciate you. What we never knew
Was that they are "happy" being unhappy, so how on earth can you
Ever make them any happier? When you can accept that, then maybe you can
Find your own happiness because this is a whole 'nother place. Amen.
