To Those Who Believe
Three little children lived on the edge all of Christmas Eve.
They could not imagine that Santa would pass on by and fail to leave
The gifts they had dreamed of and talked, so hopefully, about.
Could not even imagine him passing them by as he made his route.
"But our parents are real concerned because we have no gift for him.
We've tried so hard to believe and hope but our hope is growing dim"
"Maybe Santa only stops at rich kids' homes with all the lights"
"But I thought Santa loved us all the same, rich and poor alike"
"Don't you remember? Santa leaves his best toys at their places"
"Well, we'll just hope and pray and wait for him anyway."
When Santa came, all were sound asleep. He came and looked down below.
"Oh," he said, "There's a place I simply have to go.
Each person in that home only asked for gifts for each other.
They will be rewarded for their unselfish love for one another."
Christmas morning found the family beside the Christmas tree.
Marveling at the answered prayer, wondering why they'd doubted it would be.
