To Have a Purpose

Have you ever noticed that having a purpose sets the stage
For most anticipated accomplishments, whatever your age?
The infant becomes aware that standing follows sitting
And walking follows standing and walking sure beats sitting.

The progression of advancement continues on through childhood
In natural sequence as they became aware that "they could,"
Though, at that age it is not defined as purpose. Just
A natural need to be and see and do all the things they must.

It's a few years hence that the purpose becomes more complex.
This is when ambition begins to present a varied text
Of some immediate plan to execute some form of action
To fulfill a measured plan called "purpose" or directed hope.

Directed hope keeps pace with our potential earned
And our potential keeps pace with all we ever learned,
So the driver of this phenomenon is the "purpose," the dream
That keeps pace with our ability to access that which is yet unseen.
