There Are Some Things

There are some facts of life that you can only control to a degree.
Like getting old! You can control it just so much and so long and then you see
It's a losing battle and you have lost. I truly believe the later years
Do bring a compensation for that loss and we eventually learn, after all those tears

That this body was our given vehicle to traverse this planet
And yet we always felt, "This is me!" and we so cavalierly took for granted
Our youth, until it vanished one day at a time, so disillusionment was in degrees.
But the underlying purpose of why we came was not to just ornament the earth. The key

Was to educate and improve and by adversity build some muscle in our soul.
Youth hears no curriculum when we're young. We understand when we're old!
No one ever takes any physical thing with them when they depart,
Only accrued lessons and accrued spiritual wealth and the love you've felt in your heart.
