There's No Need to Pretend

I've often wondered why people play this unnecessary and pretentious game.
I suppose they have their own reasons - some ulterior motive to blame
But it's really wasted energy when you pretend and can't be sincere.
Most of us understand, as life makes it abundantly clear

That to what degree our interests and values can actually agree
Will determine our attraction to another, deciding what kind of friend they can be.
We can sense a harmony when we're in tune and on the same wavelength
Traveling in consciousness in coordinated and harmonious sync.

As varied as life's circumstances that determine all those we will meet
Will be our choices - hopefully honest and without deceit.
We'll always be adding friends all along our way - hold them dear.
Proven friends are the treasures that survive our journey here.
