There'll Always Be...

There will always be questions that have no rational answer because
Life is filled with imperfections on every level. Rules and laws
Are only enacted to protect the innocent, 'cause the perpetrators won't obey.
That's who they are, and even though we cannot understand, we're aware that they

Have no regard for life in any form. Not even themselves. Such a sad fact.
Once in a great while, you hear of a conversion, and they get back on track,
But that is the exception, not the rule. Sad, but often true.
Even Jesus, in His perfection, was betrayed by one of His own. What can we do?

In this world, you have a choice and sometimes it seems to boil down to that.
The only thing worse than being betrayed is to be the betrayer. That
Dilemma we hope we never face for the pure in heart cannot betray,
And that virtue leaves them out there in harm's way.
