The Vagaries Of Life

Much of my poetry is written in discussion of this fact!
The older readers already know and may even respond with some "wise-crack."
But, and I remember, it depends on how many miles are on your odometer
Not how many miles on your vehicle of choice - speedometer.

In my youth - I never heard much advice on life, on some of these facts.
Maybe they all led sheltered lives or maybe some facts just fell through the cracks.
Or maybe they just surmised that I would absorb it better first hand,
But I feel, "Why should every 'greenhorn' have to wander through this land

With a big question mark on their face. At least they can hear a word here, first!
Whether it rings a bell or just prepares you for some "worst,"
Just a hint of warning is better than not a word from anyone at all.
And if you retort, "That was you - this is me" - okay, it's your call!
