The Sunset Of My Life

As life winds down, it is a time of profound sadness
But it is also a time of profound and unbelievable gladness!
The sadness comes because you relish life and have enjoyed all the good things,
And it's like you feel sad when you have to leave all those who bring

Love and joy and happiness to you in this life and you hate to say, "Good-bye."
But you know you'll be meeting those who preceded you and so you try
To balance out the understanding. You really have no other choice -
To face that day with acceptance in your heart and in your voice.

For me, it has to be a thing of faith, for I can't remember this journey ever before,
So there's no precedent in my memory and I have to face that open door
With joy of life everlasting and faith that beyond this life's sunset
I'll face the sunrise on the other side with life continued; this life I won't forget.
