The Simple Things in Life

We've heard this all our lives and maybe took the words for granted,
Not actually or fully absorbing the real impact on our planet.
If we could build this fact into our life along the way,
We would not have to wait till we grow old and gray

To appreciate this basic fact of life on earth and to understand
Just how these simple things make up the bulk of life in this land.
Such simplistic joy as holding a loved one's hand
Or sharing a knowing smile with kindly souls whenever we can.

To offer comfort to a troubled one who may be all alone,
To remember the uncertainties of the teenage years, now long gone,
The warmth of family love of loving and sharing,
Don't ever neglect the simple joys of love and life, forever caring.
