The Options

If we were better informed about life's options, how much easier it would be.
Usually when we start investigating, we are so uninformed of the complexity
Of what's on our life's smorgasbord, we may not even be aware
That there are more options we can consider on this, our lifetime stair.

What is so confusing, there is no personal guide book we can acquire,
And friends who offer advice can only relate to their own. It will require
Some experienced strategy. We cannot count on what we can only guess,
And we can't count on another's advice, whose life turned out a mess.

EAch life and each soul's reaction to life will be their own, for their own reasons.
Is it any wonder our lives have a big "if" in parentheses for each season
Of our life, long or short. If we live to be a hundred, life changes every day,
In every conceivable way, so how can you second-guess "which way"?

And you know what? Experience does help, but it is no sure solution.
What works one day may never work again. Directly depending on earth's pollution,
Physical, mental, spiritual and moral, many in this world
Are really interested in getting the "right" answer, quickly, for this world.

There just isn't a personal encyclopedia to guide your decisions.
No matter how smart you are, and how well you may envision
Your universal relation to life and earth, you are just one short breath
Of life on earth, dangling ever between life and pending death.

We understand this completely, but we must pretend we're here forever;
In order to make our life really count, we have to assume this facade and never
Make decisions as though this was your last day. It may be, but we must remember
We must live while we're here, and write in the Book of Life how we reached our own December.
