The Extremes of Life

The extreme of life on earth will measure who you are
Better than any other circumstance, by far.
Either you balance your life or you're the victim... it's usually that way.
If it's the extreme on the positive side, you must guard your balance every day.

If the extreme is on the negative side, your threat comes on the downside.
You may discover you can handle one better than the other. You'll decide
How all this erratic storm of life will mow you down and do you in,
Or if you meet it halfway, to negate its mighty wind.

But in the end, it is the extremes that force our hand
To rise up off our haunches and fight to survive and devise our plan
For survival, otherwise, we might still be rocking in our easy chair,
Not truly aware of who, what, when, why or where.
