The Critical Balance

The year 2000 has rolled upon us. We had the warning
Since 1900 and plenty time to usher in this new century. Not alarming!
According to the calendar and Farmers' Almanac
It happens every hundred years and it's just a fact

To gauge history's recordings and tell the future generations
What transpired through that eventful time and how history's expectations
Met or failed by these emerging and deceasing generations.
Mostly recordings with some, but not total explanations.

Where you fit into this century only you and yours know.
And the only overall picture we've seen is where we fit into this historic flow.
I came 22 years into the 1900s so I have witnessed some overpowering history here.
I have seen a mechanical, inventive and technology sprint spreading everywhere.

In 1930s we were not even aware these things could possibly be.
Mankind has grasped upon the new and built towards what will be.
It's a wonderful world and I am so grateful I have lived to witness this.
Even if I had a choice, I would have regretted, if I had, by fate, missed.

It is an age of advancement with no limits to where we may go.
If only mankind can catch up with the new progress and let his spirit soar
With the flow of great discoveries, with the balance of physical and spiritual to relate
To the crucial equilibrium which this earth has long awaited.

These words will likely be as true in year 3000 as they will be in the year 2000 and maybe for a lot of century marks before. It may not show more than the road markers of where earth has been but it just might give an overall picture of where we're headed.
