That Christmas Catalog

Since I can remember, that huge Christmas catalog was known
As the ole' "wish book" and we could shop for hours, all alone,
And we could dream and visualize and compare and sometimes, we may even dare
To ask for something we only hoped Santa would bring and we would declare

About "how good" we'd been, so maybe, Santa could read our mind at the north pole.
But our parents always stressed something about "money" and that got old!
Couldn't figure what money had to do with anything. Didn't they know
That Santa wasn't charging for these gifts? They were gifts of love! And so

As I grew older, the louder that word "money" sounded. I about lost my faith
With this discussion of money for Santa and they about lost face.
Oh we knew, in our limited reality that this was more of a "wish book"
Than a reality book - but Boy!!! We enjoyed wishing and we could always look!
