Tell me friend, where did all those earthly years go?
One day we were so terribly young and then before we could know
What youth really meant we find ourselves coming over the hill
A whole lot faster than we ascended that same steep hill.

Now that we've seen both sides of this same long, long hill,
I reckon we're stuck where we are and essentially I reckon we will
Stay on this side till our life's long, long journey is over. Then,
Whatever reward we're expecting may determine, my friend,

Just how anxious we are to depart and call it the end of a long, long day -
Apologizing to our loved ones about why it is that we can not stay.
But, I'll tell you this, "I truly, without question, love life on this earthly side
And I'm planning to love life even more across that chasm wide."
