Stranger Than Fiction

Oh how true these words ring when reiterating as of today.
Anything can happen, and often does as we look and search for "our way."
If there's one certainty you can count on, it's that you can't.
Too much "iffy" going on, and each day will present a new slant.

I never cared as an adult to read fiction stories or books,
And I settled on the fact that truth is stranger yet. Just look
Around you! Read the news! You will eventually note
That if we can deal with reality, we don't need a lie someone wrote.

To each their own. Maybe some feel cheated in the "thrills" department,
And that fiction can fill in for the one that departed.
I always felt, in my book, my reality was unbelievable enough.
I didn't need anything to make up one thing more. It was rough enough.
