Some Of Us Never Do Learn

Well, at least one, and that's me! I usually remember the big "boo-boos"
But those little absent minded, everyday sleepwalking chores, I can cruise
On those - like hanging a dish cloth in a strange place. (My mind elsewhere)
Or putting a book where I won't lose it and I do swear

I'll finish that book in a day or so. By that time it's two feet under
The stack of "to do's" and I still have to search like mad and plunder.
That's time I could have spent reading my book. It's really a crying shame
That everything can't stay on top so you won't need to play that game.

And if you've formed a habit, like putting something the same place twice,
Finding it still can lay you low. Kinda' like a roll of the dice.
You hope you win without too great a loss or unnecessary cost!
With me so far? Then we're both pretty well covered up and likely completely lost.
