Roots And Wings

Oprah, I heard you with the little children and I was moved.
I, too, believe that the greatest, most crucial gift that life will prove
You can offer to your offspring is roots and wings.
And with this momentous declaration it surely brings

To the fore all the love that promotes these noble admonitions,
Bringing love and hope and joy, creating an ideal condition
To nourish your precious child who will remain your child
As long as you both shall live, hopefully a long, long while.

Such a treasured earthly gift that you've received!
The most delicate fabric in these little souls do you weave.
Your greatest accomplishment - you loose the ties and they try their wings.
On that day, as they fly away, their heart soars afar and your heart sings.
