One Thing That Age Does

Besides changing your whole look and outlook
About your space in time, you never question the time it took
To arrive at your philosophical accumulative assessment,
And that, my fellow traveler, is your life's greatest investment.

Life is an assortment of experiences, and many of them we didn't expect.
Many, we would have chosen to avoid and we refused to let life inject
Into our itenerary. But life doesn't always ask our permission - oh no!
There are things we need to learn so our soul can continue to grow.

Only in the sunset years do you get the "invested" view
Of how it all played out, as you stand in retrospect of the overview.
When you can accept the advancement for which you paid such a great price,
Then you can feel your days were justified and not just a roll of the dice.
