No Matter How Much

No matter how much you care, or how much you try,
It will always be a matter of reaching for your best, to defy
Any hint of obstacle that blocks your way this particular day.
You never know how it will go, or which'a'way.

No matter how much enthusiasm you scratch up to see you safely through
Another day of surprises, some good and some not, it may still surprise you
When bedtime comes, that you did okay in spite of everything.
You reiterate and summarize. It was a worthwhile effort that you did bring.

No matter how much you gave with your burst of enthusiasm,
It all worked out okay. No pain, no gain, no reason for sarcasm.
No matter how much you accomplished, it may not satisfy everyone,
But I doubt that will ever be, anyhow, so just enjoy what you have done.
