My Memory File

My computer is a genius when programmed to call forth storedinfo of every kind,
But it is no match for my memory file stashed away inside my mind.
Just a fleeting incident or some obscure stored word
Can recall another page, another era from earlier times that we heard.

Each episode is likely to trigger an earlier chapter of our times!
Oh how precious as we trip lightly into the past where all the signs
Of then pointed to today and what is "now" that we never dreamed.
Olden memories cannot be replaced, but we're always making new ones it seems.

We can not, nor care to, dwell only in our memories of a yesterday
But they are the base upon which we build our lives - day by day.
And in the final episode it will only be one long recorded record
That will end abruptly for you, but your legacy will live on, of its own accord.
