My Bits Of Heaven On This Earth

This whole earth and all that's in it belong to Him
So the more bits of heaven on earth I can capture the more whims
I will relish fulfillment of and the more like heaven it will seem.
Every work of God's handiwork, every meadow, every stream.

Magnificent creation is first on my list of heaven's gifts
And I ever revel in every 'n'th of the overwhelming lists
That decorate our world in such loving and beautiful care.
He surely meant for us to enjoy all these or the world would be bare.

Then I survey my earthly home and I recall a million joys
That have replenished my life and negated every little annoyance.
My earthly family I was relegated to and all the lovely acquaintances and friends
Who've added substance to my days, days without end.

Some warm and tender, some so hilarious I still laugh at the mention
Of some ironic prank of fate of which we certainly had no intention.
Some heroic act of those who actually dared to care
How we managed to survive and how we would fare.

When it boils down to a list, too long to tell it all,
It congeals into one eternal truth on which we can ever call.
When soul touches soul with tender loving care and concern,
We discover the epitome of every worthwhile experience for which we ever yearn.
