Most of Us
Most of us face each new day in its own new way.
Whatever changes accumulated since yesterday, we deal with this new day.
Nothing ever stays exactly the same, sometimes better, sometimes less.
But we accept that this is life, and we just go with what's happening and do our best.
Sometimes when it gets rough, you do roll back the reel for a while
And enjoy a better time when life was one big, happy smile.
It gives reprieve and hope, also, for happy times yet to be.
So we balance and counterbalance and try our best to accept. We all agree
That this is how we cope with the "less-than" days. It gets us through.
I do wonder sometimes if it ever balances out - don't you?
Maybe it's because we're on guard for those "less-than" days
When life offers more criticism than it ever has offered praise.
Another thing we wonder about is: why do good days go so fast
And troubled days seem twice as long, and last and last?
You would think that eventually we would just accept this fact.
But we don't. We "endure" the less-than and just live for the good day to come back.
So, we're human and we prefer the good times to the bad.
It's only natural. Most of us prefer the positive, and that's not bad.
Thank God we get sufficient good days to give us courage enough
To tolerate the negative days that seem so long and really rough.
