Keepsakes

Keepsakes are so much a part of our daily lives
And it's not always a monetary value that drives
The desire to accumulate these important "tidbits."
Most likely there's some memory associated, as we often admit.

It's the average person's form of diary or their unwritten book
That leaves pages here and paragraphs there of the trail their life took.
Of course, it is a personal record and few, if any, know but you
What memory or story each item declares; you always knew.

The meaning of these emotional ties to your experiences here
Tells a story that only you can read, but it does appear
To serve an important purpose and give special meaning
To our days upon this earth with facts of life always intervening.
