Keeping Up

In this progressive era, we try real hard to advance;
We no longer dare to dance an outdated dance.
Times keep on changing faster than we do, and that's no fun.
I remember a slower time when we could relax and follow the sun

And feel that on the morrow we could try again and not have to worry
If we didn't finish a chore, we'd get it done later, no big hurry.
Maybe we're more inspired now and feel some urgency concerning
All we've got yet to do. Maybe we're just now learning

That time seems speeded up and we're ever on the hot seat
With that proverbial "hot coal" to our slow and dragging feet.
But I still like to savor life and really feel what is there today,
Just in case this circumstance may never return some other day.
