Just Muddling Through!
Well, I see a lot of people muddling right along behind me
But I haven't asked a single one of them to agree with me.
I suppose that's because no one can bear the thought,
Let alone admit that, of all their valiant efforts, life has only brought
A long, long record of "just muddling through." Most don't choose to muddle.
It seems it is an inadvertent act of all mankind - life has befuddled
All our great plans and strenuous efforts. So in order to progress
At all - you just take what you've got and do what you can, under duress.
"Just trying to make the most of what our life has dished up
Even against our loud objections and as we are objecting about "enough."
Seldom does life, against all odds, ever go according to our plan.
Circumstances due to actions of a few billion souls, affect us all any way they can.
Plans and dreams are made and broken - not necessarily any fault of ours!
Sometimes, "Yes" but all in all, most of us never reach the ivory towers.
Some can toss their head and philosophy about "That's life,"
Which it is, but we like to feel we dealt with fate and life's strife
In a more effective way to gain back some control of which way we are going
And who we are and events that happen every day. But we are knowing,
Somewhere down that road, that life is not that simple, If it was,
We could decide our destiny, live a wonderful life and dance among the stars.
Whatever acknowledged "muddles" on this earth - "Why not admit?"
It's no crime, just "wit's-end" solutions in response to life as we do our "bit."
Come join the club and make the best of whatever is still left.
Don't let disappointment speak! Spend the remainder of your time just being "yourself."
