Just Getting There

You're so young, but you feel so grown up. This is the time
When you feel all mature one minute and like a child another time;
You're feeling so grown up but have no clue about the emotions running wild.
That alone can keep you real busy for a good, long while.

You feel for the world like a selected victim in this emotional upheaval.
Is this what adulthood is? And what's all this unreal grieving
All about? Thank God, this learning process glides into real relationships
And we each learn how to establish and nurture real relationships.

It all happens in just a few years, but believe me, it seems like forever.
And the frustrations make you feel that this will never end - never.
Usually by your twentieth year you've been through the mill and learned
Things that you need to know and likely every lesson learned was truly earned.
