Just Because

Just because you feel your counterparts have got more going on than you,
Don't fold up and die; do something about it as far as you can do.
No matter how slow or how long, doesn't sum it up,
For as long as you're progressing, you'll get there yet. Yep!

Just because you've been hindered in every conceivable way,
Don't look back. Keep your eyes on what's ahead, and you are on your way.
Soon, you're enjoying the journey so much you forget the time.
So when you reach your goal, it may have proven so rewarding you forgot to note the time.

My motto, in big lights, still remains after all these years:
"Take what you've got and do what you can" sure cuts down on the tears.
When your destination comes in sight, wave your torch and claim your prize,
For you won, in spite of life and not some ego exercise.

All because you took what you had and did what you could.
