Just A Matter Of Degree

Most of our lives are not exactly trouble free, I thought with a sigh.
Although it feels like everyone is faring "so much better than I."
When you, honestly, can get past your own hurts, you can see
That, in reality, it is just a fact of life that many others hurt, not "just me."

And the complaint list never ends. As for the method that was used
By so many whose "profession" is to "use and abuse."
Kind and generous people who only look for love and kindness
Seem to be the earthly target for those who suffer emotional blindness.

So that's where the matter of degree" becomes so apparent - "no whys!"
A bitter and vindictive person seldom ever chooses their own kind to victimize -
For in their devious dealings, they instinctively know and understand
Who the "victim material" is and that's the backbone of their plan.

The most unnatural thing a good person will be called upon to do is to recognize the disguise of the user for they never present themselves as they really are. Then, entrapment would no longer be so simple.

Learning, experience and wisdom can diminish this blatant deception to a "livable degree." You can "head 'em off at the pass" with only "self survival" as your motive. Be aware!!
