It Would Help If I Knew the Step

When you one day find yourself the victim of circumstances,
You feel rather foolish and at the mercy of this situation. Life dances
And grabs you as a partner. It's a dance you've never done,
Which means you're out of step with all that so-called "fun"

That is being had by the self-appointed one who insisted you knew the step.
It appears no one is concerned but you, on one's offering any help.
Once in a while, life calls on us to play the ridiculous clown
And do this unknown jig that has tripped us up and thrown us down.

You feel so inconsequential, but in the rush, you move to stay afloat
To avoid being knocked down and appear the clumsy goat.
You count the moments till the music stops and this event is over.
This episode came upon you while you were sporting your "four leaf clover."
