It Was A Simpler Time

Every generation can remember, with nostalgia, their "simpler time."
That's how fast our advancement has progressed in our brief span of time.
In fact, my memories of the "simpler times" has changed to even a decade ago.
We've learned "new and better" ways to do most everything and we just know,

This is moving faster than we ever thought it possibly could.
Each new invention and improvement replaces last years model which we thought would
Last at least ten years! And, you know what? Everything is speeding up
Our lives are speeding up as we drain yesterday's cup

And wait in anticipation for the next new time saving marvel coming up -
And we keep buying and acquiring and speeding up so we can fill another cup.
For average working people, you can have the newest gadget out - right now
And not have to wait till the kids are all raised up and gone - to figure how.

You can have some of the more updated gadgets to aid your chores along.
We've gotten used to credit cards, also, which can really change our song.
They can be a blessing - used with discretion to take advantage of a sale.
Thereby enhancing your lifestyle way beyond the settlers' trail.

The "good life" for which we need not wait - till we're ages old
Is speeding up in pace far beyond what we were ever told.
If all the time we save and an easier life can be used in positive ways -
We should be so much better off and singing of our progress in our daily praise.
