It's Almost Time
It's almost time for the postman! You're rather hopeful
He'll bring some good news that can certainly be helpful.
Or it could be bills that must be paid - feels like a bandit raid.
It might be someone selling something to make your money fade.
It might be a book you ordered that is supposed to educate
The world on just exactly how to operate to improve your fate!
You're kinda' looking for some news from your special kin
Sharing their lives as far as they can and indicating just when
They are expecting their great windfall and their lives will be
Happily ever-after and I dare not warn them cause I could be
So very wrong I would never deprive or disenchant their hopeful dreams
For everyone of us deserves the priviledge of our hopeful dreams.
It could be a long awaited letter from a very precious friend
Whose mate is waning fast and asking me to pray. Their love they send!
It could be some happy news of something in someone's life "gone right."
It rewards your dreams in the coming days and nights.
It could be your Social Security check which will keep you afloat for yet awhile.
At least you can shuffle bills and buy food - no "big deal" style.
Well, it's almost time for the man who brings you all these things -
And don't you wish, sometimes, that there would be a message brought by angel's wings?
Some days bring hope and some do not! The inequities of life are evident to us all.
Sometimes reflected from our mailbox - we acknowledge this fact - applying to us all.
Eventually we may understand the who, the why and what, but the one thing never delivered
Are the ultimate solutions, deciding the fate of the priviledged and the underpriviledged.
