If You're Waiting

If you're waiting till your fellowman improves himself
To do a little something about trying to improve yourself,
Well you're at the other fellow's mercy because you've decided,
If he doesn't think it's worth the effort and he hasn't tried it,

Then, since he appears to be doing all right with his life and wife,
Well, you'll just hang with him. He seems quite happy, very little strife!
Never let your acquaintances set your guidelines,
Unless you feel they're way ahead of you. You know it takes all kinds.

Select your own agenda and build from wherever you are now.
Keep your goal fixed with determined mind and learn how
To follow your own star, whichever one you choose.
In this process you may get detours but in the end, you'll never lose.
