I Told You So

If we all had a hundred bucks for every weary time
We've heard this pronouncement! And it's usually a sign
That you've messed up in someone's prophetic opinion
Real bad! But this serves two parts in your own dominion.

It says, "I was right, and as usual you were wrong.
And now you will hear this familiar old song -
Maybe for the rest of your life. I guess it takes two to fill this bill.
Even though later "in your book," it's undecided still.

But as long as anyone makes mistakes... like forever
There's gonna' be that wagging finger in your face and you may never
Hear the last of this worn out phrase 'cause people are so prone
To consider themselves wiser than the rest and they are not alone.
