I Don't Love You Anymore
I do believe, with all my heart, that these are the most hurtful words ever spoken.
Usually said in bitter rage and with accusations and promises broken.
The real reason probably so totally and deliberately obscure
The offended one is caught off guard and was so, so sure
That "this" love would be for a lifetime, would definitely endure.
Only the offender can know why and they're probably not even sure.
If their love had been the forever kind there would have been
Some honest effort to discuss and work together to salvage, not offend.
Sometimes the marriage vows are taken lightly and there's no concern
To be loyal or to attempt to make it work. They will learn
But at great expense to all involved. It's not just their life they're affecting.
There's always more than one whose life is disrupted - wrecked.
The only possible excuse for a marriage to dissolve
Is total lack of cooperation by the partner, or if they're involved
In detrimental behavior of every sort. It really does take two
To make a marriage and to make a marriage work. So if you
Have been told, "I don't love you anymore" I doubt if there's anything left
To build onto. Without love there is no partnership left.
You can try forevermore, but one partner can not make a marriage work
And without love there's no incentive . . . only hurt.
