How Many Times?
How many times must we start all over again?
It may be survival of some physical trauma with too much pain.
It could be a disappointing relationship you never suspected
Would end this way nor that you'd be so adversely affected.
To some, it was a financial fiasco that came unbidden
From sources you could not know were hidden.
Or were you a trusting victim of some charitable scam
Capitalizing on the charity of your generous spirit. Typically they did scram!
Searching for more victims as all scam artists do
For they are not particular about the qualifications of their victim or who
Is hurt. There's an angle to every perpetrator's con
With no descriptive label to warn you till they're gone.
There is no magic number at which we stop this ploy.
Learn the scenario early on even as a girl or boy.
That will eliminate a calculator to keep count of "How many times
You discover you have been suckered one more time."
Some of these situations prove we are likely victims of circumstances.
We may never have contributed directly to fate's deceitful dance
But the eventual, ultimate question forever will remain,
"How many times before we learn to side step and evade the unnecessary pain?"
