Has Your Life Been
Has your life been just one long and lingering "why?" If so,
That would likely mean that you never ever did know.
It seems everyone has their fair share of doubtful question marks.
That's quite natural 'cause no one feels they need everything they got.
Once in a while you hear tel of some soul who hit the jackpot.
We don't really envy them, but we scratch our heads and wonder a lot,
"If I'd been so lucky..." and we start to write the story "What Might Have Been."
And in reality, I don't feel that that's much of a sin.
We're just realistic persons pondering life and the "slice" we were handed.
You really can see, the possibilities are sparse where you landed.
The sooner that fact registers and you can see the "playing field,"
The sooner you can relate to reality and just go with your inherited deal.
Now, sometimes your stoic faith will lift you up and lead you on,
But way back there, all we could see and feel was "I'm so alone."
From time to time we scan the total scene to evaluate our current stance.
That can bring you up or bring you down, depending on that day's dance.
How long this goes on, no one can say - there's sure no firm plan
You're beginning to consider all the whys and why-nots in this land.
Only God knows and understands exactly who you are and why you came.
But I finally learned He had a reason - and his and mine didn't appear the same.
In your final days, you get to see what picture your life painted,
And if you had faith when you felt you had reason, then you're not tainted
With bitterness but thankfulness for the courage to survive - maybe your reason
For coming here this time. Seeing that this was your most productive season.
