Do You Ever Wonder?

Do you ever wonder or did you ever stop to think
About how many times you hear this said in the matter of a blink,
"He said!" "She said!" "We said!" The conversation need not be long
Before you begin to hear this familiar tune from the same old song,

And let's not forget, probably the most used word ever said,
"I said!" And sometimes it comes out like this: "I always said."
Now, once in a while you hear a famous quote that lots its author's name,
But the words and meaning are lingering in "free float" just the same.

Sometimes we hear a scripture quoted, maybe verbatim, and maybe not.
Most times, no originator of that thought was mentioned, becoming lost and forgot.
"They say" nothing is ever new because there has always been
A multitude of people talking, which, of itself, is not great sin.

Once in a while you hear something like "God said" in a last-ditch effort to
Settle some major point about some right or wrong, and who said what, and is it true.
"Jesus said," is usually used when it serves its narrator well as a "back-up,"
For their word may not be holding up even though they say, "My cup

Runneth over." A famous quote, or some scripture from the Bible,
They seem to feel, lends credence to their words thereby leaving no rival.
Who would argue their point in the face of "God said" or "Jesus said"?
If we each remembered more often to use the most famous "ever-said,"

Maybe there would be some better folks around who always tried to get it right.
We usually know, before we make certain choices, which is wrong and which is right.
If you've lived long already, you remember all those who said, and you understand
Where it's all coming from. But by now you are aware about life's plan.
