Beyond the Call
When you go beyond "What it takes to just get by" then you
Are one of the special ones, and everyone knows they can count on you.
You're used by those who only try to just get by,
But you learn to put your efforts to a more practical use, and with a sigh,
You travel on. When you observe this special life in action,
You realize that the percentage of those special ones are just a fraction
Of the multitudes that do not care, "Just making it easy on me."
What has created this difference in attitude? How did each come to be
So different? We all probably have our own theories, and these have reasons,
But to the one who lets the other fellow do their share, it's open season.
The "Beyond the Call of Duty" group never give it a second thought.
Maybe they were born that way, and maybe they, by example, were taught.
