And, Lo, The Angel Said

Out there amongst the hills, the vigilant shepherds watched through the night
For any untoward incidents that could, and might,
Threaten their flock. Ever observing, prepared and alert,
Extra careful to be responsible, avoiding danger and unnecessary hurt.

Their silent night was suddenly transformed when they became aware
Of music from another sphere, sounding like some far off choir.
And of the brilliant glory of the heavens shining round about,
When they heard the ascending angels, in their glory, shout!

Their fear was only exceeded by their lack of any understanding.
When the angel approached from above to these shepherds who were standing
In amazement and awe, not knowing what to expect,
They could only wonder why they were this chosen elect.

And, lo, the angel said, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings
Of great joy for unto you is born this day in the city of David
A Savior, which is Christ the Lord."
The greatest announcement this world has ever heard.

There were no doubts or questions; it was a definite announcement,
Leaving nothing unsaid concerning the authenticity of this eternal pronouncement.
Today we celebrate His entrance to this earth nearly two thousand years ago.
Our reality: we celebrate His birth every day in our receptive hearts. This we know!

Those who would search and find were told to follow the "Star"
Which signifies that today, the searcher will come from afar.
Let Heaven and nature sing! The greatest gift that God could give.
This, Heaven did, all for you and me, that we may live!
