An Unproductive Day

When I complain about how much I failed, this day, to do -
I don't necessarily mean I just watch the traffic and wonder who
Is running hither and thither and if any of them are fretting, too,
About all the things they had, earlier today, planned to do -

But they've already been relegated to tomorrow's "to do" list.
You mentally become aware of just how much "To do" you've missed
Surely there must be some younger ones who can move faster!
These days leave you feeling inadequate, wondering how much you'll master.

But - as the new day dawns with the longer, much longer list -
You arise, once more, in eager anticipation to attack what you missed
Yesterday and today. And as it goes with almost everyone -
You bite the bullet, grit your teeth and pray that today you'll get it all done.
