All I Had Planned to Do
Those projects were decided with purest intentions
And really real. They were not merely pretentious!
If I had have ever done and finished just one half . . .
Now, don't you dare start pointing or even slightly laugh
'Cause I bet your good intentions would line the road
From where you are to far away places - who knows.
I always bite off more than I can comfortably chew
And I just feel that this situation applies also to you.
Somehow the things I had visualized with such gusto
Outnumbered so far beyond what I have actually done! Just so
You understand why my "did-do" list looked so minuscule
Against the long, long list I had planned as my daily rule.
It would truly be interesting to for sure know
If anyone ever exceeds their to-do list and not have to stow
Today's leftover projects on tomorrow's list. And then one day
The list becomes unrealistically long and so you admit your defeat and pray.
How important or critical your task may actually be
May decide how often you pray and rewrite your itinerary. You'll never feel free
Till you can decide what "one day" can comfortably accommodate
So you won't feel so futile, ineffective and forever inadequate.
