A Losing Situation

When we have done our very best to help another and encourage them
In their attempted goals of life, and you eventually discover, then
That your help was resented as thought they must have thought
You figured them incapable and making them feel you brought

More to their project than they did - you never dreamed such a thing.
Probably a losing proposition because of their "insecurity thing."
Not only is there no appreciation but a lot of criticism.
It's not your fault. How were you to know your efforts escaped their realism?

When and if you discover you're no longer needed and definitely unappreciated,
It becomes a waste of your time. Travel on to a place you'll be appreciated.
Why waste your time and efforts in some futile attempt
To help a soul who only views you and your efforts with contempt.
